Highland Road is historically significant as the first main road north from Hobart. It played a crucial role in connecting Hobart with Launceston and was used by early settlers and mail carriers.
Our thanks to Dr Alistair Reed of QMaps Pty Ltd who has very kindly provided us with maps overlaying the route of the old Highland Road on modern maps. Alistair wishes to acknowledge Tasmanian Archives as a great resource.
